FAQ

Where and when is the “Rainbow on the Eastside” Art Show?

In 2026, the exhibition will be held simultaneously in two different gallery spaces in Redmond, WA:

The Together Center Gallery on NE 87th St from June 3 through August 28, 2026.

The Centro Cultural Mexicano office on Redmond Way from June 18 through August 14, 2026.

Can I choose which gallery my art is exhibited in? Do I have to be of Mexican heritage to exhibit at Centro Cultural Mexicano?

No, the art show organizers will decide whether your art is displayed in Together Center gallery or in the Centro Cultural Mexicano office. If more than one of your entries is accepted, it is possible that they may be exhibited at different sites. We will let you know where and when to drop your art off if one or more of your entries are accepted.

You do not have to be of Mexican heritage to submit art for the “Rainbow on the Eastside” Pride Month Art Show. The only requirement is that you are a 2SLGBTQIA+ resident of the Eastside (East King County and the Snoqualmie Valley). The Centro Cultural Mexicano is a welcoming community space open to all. Their community gallery has exhibited work from diverse local artists.

Do I have to be “out” to participate in the Art Show?

No, you can submit art under a pseudonym. However, since the goal of the art show is to highlight the presence of LGBTQIA artists on the Eastside, where we are often invisible, the exhibition materials require artist bios to include each artist’s area of residence and their 2SLGBTQIA+ identity. Your bio can be as specific or as vague as you wish. e.g. “So-and-so is an asexual trans man living in Issaquah”, or “So-and-so is a queer POC who lives near Bellevue.” (For example, if you are living in Newcastle or one of Bellevue’s satellite towns and you are not comfortable revealing your city of residence, you can refer your location to a nearby major Eastside city, e.g. “near Renton” or “near Bellevue.” )

If you are not comfortable having your 2SLGBTQIA+ identity mentioned on wall labels even under a pseudonym, we will NOT be able to display your work.

Please refer to the Privacy Policy for more details on what information we may share with 3rd parties.

Will the Art Show have a Reception event? If my work is accepted for the Art Show, do I have to be present at the Art Show’s Reception?

Centro Cultural Mexicano will hold an opening reception in June 18, 2026. Together Center will hold a closing reception on August 29, 2026.

We ask that participating artists do their part in helping to host the Artists’ Reception and promote the Art Show and related events. If you are not out or if you feel uncomfortable with hosting a public reception for any reason, we can discuss how you can contribute to the Art Show’s promotion in a way that you are comfortable with.

Do I have to pay an entry fee to submit art?

No, there is no fee to submit art for the “Rainbow on the Eastside” Pride Month Art Show.

Since we are not charging entry fees, we ask participating artists to consider supporting the Art Show by making a donation to the Centro Cultural Mexicano or to the Together Center. This is purely voluntary.

No. Centro Cultural Mexicano and Together Center lets the artists on exhibition sell to the customer directly. Gallery visitors who express interest in purchasing an artist’s work will be provided with the contact information of the artist so that they can make purchase inquiries directly.

How many pieces can I submit for the show?

If you are a painter, photographer or other 2-D artist who creates wall art that each have a display size of 9″x12″ or larger, you can submit up to 5 entries for consideration. (Each piece = 1 entry)

If you’re a small crafts artist, e.g. a jewelry maker, there is no hard limit on the number of pieces you can submit. You can submit a collection of work as a single entry.

For sculptors and installation artists, you can submit up to 5 entries for consideration. Free-standing sculptures should not have area footprint greater than 1 square foot. The gallery may not be able to accommodate heavy wall-hanging sculptures or artwork that requires complicated installation. Refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.

I have never printed or framed my art before. How do I go about it?

Art show participant Nemo has shared their tips for printing and framing their work here.

No. Neither the hosting galleries Centro Cultural Mexicano and Together Center nor the event organizer Wolfberry Studio LLC nor the event partner Pride Across the Bridge will be responsible for any damage or theft while your artwork is being transported to/from the exhibition venues and while it is on display or in storage at the exhibition venues.

Consider purchasing your own Artist Insurance if your work is not already insured.

I am a visual artist. If my work is accepted for the show, do I have to show up in person to deliver my art?

Accepted artists will be informed of the dates for art drop off. If you are unable to deliver your art in person at the specified time, please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements. We will try our best to meet your accessibility needs and scheduling needs.
