Lytal (she/her), or “Lyt” for short, is the artist who runs Designs by Lyt, a small business in Bothell.

“My jewelry is unique because I take broken or unwanted jewelry and turn it into something new. Supporting me means supporting an environmentally conscious, type one diabetic, female, and LGBTQ+-owned small business.”

I am out and proud! Finding myself has empowered me to explore jewelry making as an art form and my art is for everyone. This is my first art show and I’m so grateful to be part of this beautiful queer community and share my art with all of you. The piece I chose is from my wedding to my wife, Alina. The necklace I made special for them to wear, and it goes with my earrings. Together they represent how we are both uniquely different but fit together as a whole.

Coming Out

I was born sparkly. At the age of four, I wore nothing but a bright yellow ball gown with matching clip-on earrings and several pearl necklaces. Throughout my teens and twenties, I used clothing and accessories as a form of art and expression. It wasn’t until I was thirty that I came out. It took some significant life changes, separation from the life I knew and a lot of self-reflection to accept myself.
